As a large university, Georgia Tech has the purchasing power to make a difference in the sustainability of our supply chains. Our over-arching objective is to “buy less and buy better.” To this end, we encourage our procurement professionals to make sustainable purchasing decisions.
One example of smart purchasing is our Green Cleaning Program – an initiative that requires that all vendors provide only green products. Our cleaning equipment now achieves high quality results, while using 70 percent less water and 90 percent fewer chemicals than traditional equipment.
BuzzMart is Georgia Tech's eBusiness system, providing a single point of access for purchasing needs. Many of our vendors, such as Staples, Office Max, HP, Lenovo, and others offer sustainable products in their catalogs.
Green cleaning is a method of cleaning indoor facilities that reduces water used when cleaning as well as using environmentally safe cleaning products to lower the amount of chemicals released into the air.
